The Maths Mum® 'Maths for Life' - Lesson 6 with Lance

The Maths Mum® “Maths for life” - Lesson 6 with Lance

Unfortunately Ella couldn’t join us due to lockdown 2.0 but we will be trialing a lesson on Zoom next week!

Today I decided to do some ’speed’ maths.  Looking at similar worksheets we have been doing over the last couple of weeks with a focus on getting Lance to get the work done.  Lance employs lots of avoidance tactics and I wanted to see what would happen if I upped the pace a little.

I used a selection of worksheets available on the ‘Maths for life’ Community.  You can find out details of how to subscribe on my website.

Here is an outline of the maths that was being worked on / assessed:

1.  Counting to 15 to set the timer.

2.  'Which one is different?' - a couple of obvious ones to begin but then the more abstract ones pose a greater challenge.

3.  More or Less - focus on looking and seeing who has more or less rather than counting to find out.

4.  Simple Comparison - looking a mathematical vocabulary, reading and understanding comparison words.

5. 'Count how many...' up to 10 - counting, remembering the answer and writing numbers (without the aid of the number line this week)

6.  Draw the correct number - following instructions, reading numbers and drawing the correct amount required.

7.  Completing the Table - Counting and recording items by type.

8.  Positional Language - Looking at a scene and correctly selecting the correct positional language to complete the sentence.

24 worksheets in 29 minutes… top work Lance! You are a star.
