The Maths Mum® 'Maths for life' - Lesson 5 with Lance & Ella

Here is an outline of the maths that was being worked on / assessed:

1.  Setting the timers - giving a sense of how long 20 minutes is; using two different timers to show that time is the same no matter which clock you use.

2. 'Count how many...' up to 10 - trying to working independently - reading the question, counting and writing the answer in the answer space.

3.  'Count how many...' up to 20 - looking at 1:1 correspondence after 10 and then practicing writing the answer as a number and a word.

4.  'Which one is different?' - starting at the obvious and working through to the more abstract reasons, always asking them to justify their answer.  Why is that one different?

5.  Money - looking at identifying the 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins, following instructions and writing the answer with the 'p' for pence.

30 minutes of maths!!!  Well done Lance and Ella - gold stars for both of you.
