The Maths Mum® 'Maths for life' - Lesson 9 with Ella & Lance via Zoom

The Maths Mum® “Maths for life” - Lesson 9 with Ella & Lance via Zoom

Again, I will load a copy of the 12-page lesson plan workbook on to the “Maths for Life” membership page and it will be available to download for those with Premium Annual Membership.

Here is an outline of the maths that was being worked on / assessed:

1.  Number Sequencing / Reading Numbers Backwards - a great game of ‘What number is under…?’ identifying the number that is covered, reading numbers forward and backwards up to 20.

2.  "Is the enough?" - something new today.  Asking the question 'do you have enough?' involving stating how much is needed, counting how much you have and then comparing to make a decision on whether or not there is enough.

3. ‘'Who has more?" - another new worksheet.  Asking the question 'who has more?' involving counting how many and comparing to decide who has more.

4.  Birthday Cake - Asking the question how old is Alfie and relating it to how many candles are on the cake.  This is a situational question that is underpinned by social knowledge.  The understanding that the candles represent his age.

We didn't cover all the questions on the workbook but that's life!

Good work Lance and Ella.  And extra gold star to Ella for continuing on without Lance even though you can see her energy levels drop when he leaves.  They do work well together.
