Newsletter - June 2019

This month has been all about technology for The Maths Mum and trying out new ways of reaching a wider audience. I’ve had telephone calls, tuition sessions via video link, been live on Instagram ‘stories’ and also made a house call. I’ve now got a mobile flipchart, A1 wipeboard and iPad stand - not only can you come to me, I’m also ready and willing to come to you physically or via the video link on your computer. The Virtual Maths Mum has arrived!

I’ve been in contact with National Numeracy, an independent charity established in 2012 to help raise low levels of numeracy among both adults and children and to promote the importance of everyday maths skills. I supported National Numeracy Day on 15th May 2019 and completed the National Numeracy Challenge… and delighted to report that I got 100% (phew!!). They have asked me to write a guest blog for them - exciting stuff.

I also enjoyed some well deserved time out and visited my sister and her family in Canada. Although it was a long way to go for four days, I made the best of the 8 hour flights to enjoy a film, drink a G&T and read a couple of maths books. My “wasted time” will hopefully lead to courses for children with special needs, adults with maths anxiety and KS3 maths.

For now KS1 and KS2 (Lower & Upper) courses are available - check out the website for scheduled courses. If you are interested in completing a course or want some targeted help via video link contact me to arrange a mutually convenient time.

During June, I hope to go ‘live’ on Instagram / Facebook for some question and answer sessions. I will publish details in advance - watch this space.

And finally the June 2019 KS1 Workbook - or the alternative date free option of Workbook 6 - has been published and is now available to download from the website shop. There is a link below.
